Twitter Outraged Over Article Labelling Priyanka Chopra 'Global Scam Artist'

"Upon further editorial review, we found this story did not meet our standards", the editorial note now reads. As fans know, things have moved rather quickly for Priyanka and her new husband, Nick Jonas.

Writer Mariah Smith asserted the following theory: "All Nick wanted was a possible fling with Hollywood's latest It Woman, but instead he wound up staring at a life sentence with a global scam artist".

At least, that seemed to be the gist. After much criticism, The Cut has now deleted the controversial article.

It made the case that Chopra - after becoming successful in India - had coldly set her sights on America, and bagging an American star.

- It is ridiculous that Chopra, a self-made woman, would want to spend her money on luxury items. Highlighted too was the fact that Jonas had previously dated older women, even in his younger years. This makes her suspicious.

Jonas' brother Joe and his fiancee, Sophie Turner, also voiced complaints at the "disgusting" descriptions of their sister-in-law.

The first photos of the brunette beauty's Vogue photoshoot were released last month, along with a joint feature where Chopra and Jonas detailed their love story for the first time.

"The article on @priyankachopra was sexist, racist and disgusting", she continued. It reeks of envy and bitterness. "They have a lot of friends and family who are Bollywood stars". The magazine also pushed a public apology for writing the piece.

In her first post-wedding interview, Priyanka told NDTV about the wedding: 'I've spoken in front of heads of state, on the most prolific stages of the world but I was most afraid on this day. There is no good explanation for this other than human error and poor judgment. And earlier today, the newlyweds stepped out in New Delhi at an event for dating and networking app Bumble, which Chopra recently invested in, to help lead its expansion in her native country, looking as blissful and lovely as ever.
